Homeschooling is regulated already by the states (as it should be). I have no issues with parents that wish to homeschool. The vast majority of them end up very well educated indeed.
I think the standardized tests like the SAT and ACT are sufficient enough. However, one does need to be careful when it comes to curriculum, most of them do need some type of supplementation every now and then.
